Stylish Halloween Costumes

I've never been a huge fan of the store bought Halloween costume. While I've done it in the past (hello Rainbow Brite) I just feel like it's a cop out and lacks creativity. If you're like me and are trying to avoid the last minute dash to the lame (insanely over-crowded) Halloween store, here is an array of stylish women to be inspired by. The best part is that you can create most of these costumes with a mix of your own wardrobe and maybe a quick trip to the thrift store. Happy Hallows everyone!!

Music MonDay: Florence+The Machine

Florence Welch's ethereal music has been described as "Kate Bush meets Aretha Franklin," and in my opinion her MTV VMA performance was the most powerful of the night--and quite frankly, the only performance worth watching.

Welch describes her own music in quite unusual terms saying, "I want my music to sound like throwing yourself out of a tree, or off a tall building, or as if you’re being sucked down into the ocean and you can’t breathe...It’s something overwhelming and all-encompassing that fills you up, and you’re either going to explode with it, or you’rejust going to disappear.” Welch goes on to say that she writes her best songs when she’s drunk or has a hangover, because that’s when the freedom, the feral music comes, creating itself wildly from the fragments gathered in her notebooks and in her head. “You’re lucid, she explains, “but you’re not really there. You’re floating through your own thoughts, and you can pick out what you need. I like those weird connections in the universe. I feel that life’s like a consistent acid trip, those times when things keep coming back.”

Ummm, seems like our kinda girl! :)

P&H Fall Picks

Rebecca's Picks

My version of a natural blow-dryer

As a result of living more than half my life in cool and foggy coastal climates, fall weather feels like home to me. Growing up on the coast we had a standard uniform of Mavericks surf hoodies and Uggs (gross, I know).

Our "uniform" on the coast, circa 2002?
While my style has slightly evolved from my youthful days where my look can best be described as "homeless chic," there is still something that will forever be comforting about gravitating to a comfy, warm coat or jacket on those brisk, cool fall mornings. Therefore, my picks for fall reflect the idea of fusing comfort and style together to create a look that is still polished and refined.

Rosepea Sweatshirt $48.00
Clifton Coat in Navy $110.00

Puff jacket/vest $90.00

Fonda Coat (with or without fur...your choice!) $64.00

Wrap Coat $120.00

Nikki's Picks

There is nothing better then fall clothing. Unlike winter you don't need that extra layer to keep you from freezing to death which is always a plus. Lately I have been eyeing vintage pieces without them actually being vintage. Which is nice because they can get expensive, so here are some unique pieces that I think you need for fall.
Hinsdale Jacket $72
Destiny Lace Top $30
Stockton Trousers $67
Pap Papps $120
